Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing these parents to be a their home in Boerne, Texas. I love incorporating what people love and letting their personalities shine in photo sessions, so when they asked if they could have their session take place on their property I was very happy to make that happen.
When your couple has a Texas flag painted on a small shed, owns horses and goats, and wardrobe includes wearing boots and a cowboy hat, you embrace it all: rustic fence lines, cactus, oak trees, horses, everything about living in the Hill Country. No pictures with goats...this time.
We were also visited by a neighbor's cat during our session. I love animals so it was hard to resist petting the kitty and letting it rub up against my legs as I was taking photos. In fact, I encouraged it so the cat would stop trying to insert himself in my couple's photos. S/he definitely tried to steal the show.
Best thing about being able to have a photo session at home is you get to take an A/C break and get ice cold water in the middle of it all. Although it was 7 pm and the sun was setting, it was still 90 degrees and humid. Momma's comfort is key, so I know when I'm hot she must be too, so inside we went for a 5 minute break.
After our mini break we continued playing with the light as the sun started to dip below the tree line. With the kitty as our audience, we took a few more photos in different areas of their yard until the sun was low enough to take some photos with their horses.
I can't wait to meet their little girl! She'll grow up in such a sweet family with nature and animals all around. What a beautiful life!
