A Texas Winter Family Session

In the beginning of the year, this sweet family had their first family photo session scheduled. But Texas weather had other plans. The day their session was supposed to happen it was snowing and sleeting all over the hill country. As much as I'd love to capture photos in the snow, traveling in south Texas during such weather is usually not a good idea.

The day of their session was much warmer, though still a bit chilly for their little girl. By the end of our time together, she was bundled up in a jacket, beanie, and blanket and stayed snuggled in her parents' arms whenever she wasn't feeling up to exploring.

When she wasn't too cold, she was the smiliest baby, full of giggles. She loved sticking out her tongue and making goofy faces, too. But I don't expect little ones to be happy for an entire session non-stop. So when she needed a break and her pacifier, that was completely fine. I continued to take photos of her while mom cradled her, while she had a pacifier in her mouth, and if it had come to tears, I would've photographed that, too.

We loved our time together at Cibolo Nature Center so much that we met up again, with more of their family, a few months later to celebrate baby girl's first birthday! Stay tuned to see images from their Extended Family Session, on what turned out to be another chilly morning.

A popular time for Family Photos is in the fall, leading up to the Holidays. But you can take your family photos any time of the year! When your kids are little, I recommend taking family photos every season because they grow up so fast. Plus, each season has its own advantages and unique qualities for your photos from colors, to wardrobes, to time of day. So make the most of this time and book your family photos often.
